CHOW receives "Carbon Footprint" certification to enhance competitiveness in steel market aiming to lead business towards a sustainable green industry

CHOW receives "Carbon Footprint of Circular Economy Products" and "Carbon Footprint of Products" certifications from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) for 2024, reinforcing the circular economy business concept. This enhances competitiveness in the  market while advancing the organization towards sustainable growth alongside environmental care.

Mr. Paramat Chulvanij (Right), Group Chief Financial Officer of Chow Steel Industries Public Company Limited (CHOW), a major manufacturer and distributor of steel billets in Thailand, revealed that CHOW has been assessed for greenhouse gas emissions of its products and has received the Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP) certification from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management  Organization (TGO). This is in line with CHOW's greenhouse gas reduction plan, which controls emissions from the production process all the way through to distribution, ensuring that greenhouse  gas reductions are targeted and efficient. The Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) was established to analyze, review, and provide certification for projects that reduce  greenhouse gas emissions under the clean development mechanism, with the aim of benefiting the environment, investment, and socio-economic development.

"CHOW places great importance on environmental care, social responsibility, and community engagement at every step. We are committed to the Circular Economy business concept, which focuses on reusing raw materials by selecting high-quality materials that are eco-friendly and 100% recyclable. This not only supports CHOW's greenhouse gas reduction plan to meet its goals but also enhances the efficiency of resource use in the country for maximum benefit. This time, CHOW has received certification for 3 products: RB6, RB8, and RB9, which adds value to the products, the organization, and stakeholders. Additionally, it reflects the shift in consumer behavior towards more environmentally conscious decisions in purchasing. Receiving the Carbon Footprint certification for CHOW’s products is also another way to enhance our competitiveness in the steel market. We expect this to contribute to a double-digit sales growth in steel this year," said Mr. Paramat in conclusion.

The Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP) is a label that indicates the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the production of a product. This calculation includes everything from  the sourcing of raw materials, the production process, transportation, usage, and disposal. CHOW  aims for consumers to be aware of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address global warming. This helps raise awareness and encourages consumers to participate in reducing  greenhouse gases by choosing products or services that are environmentally responsible. Additionally, it contributes to driving the construction and real estate industries in Thailand towards a sustainable green industry.
